Hans Hulbækmo (trommer) og Egil Kalman (modulær synthesizer, kontrabass) slapp debutskiva si «Unit of Time» på Motvind Records i fjor. Ved å zoome inn på rytmer fra forskjellige musikktradisjoner fra rundt omkring i verden, strukturer fra renstemt drone-musikk og jazzens hyperfokuserte samspill, skaper de her et helt unikt rytmisk univers, hvor opplevelsen av tid snus på hodet.

I denne musikken er det rikelig med rom til å gi seg hen. Det er det heldigvis også i Middelalderskogen, så det passer utmerket at Kalman & Hulbækmo spiller hos oss etter mørket har senka seg fredag 19. juni!

Drummer Hans Hulbækmo and modular synthesist / bassist Egil Kalman released their debut record “Unit of Time” on Motvind Records last year.

By zooming in on rhythms from traditional music from around the world, the hyper-focused interplay of free jazz, and the rhythmic structures of just-intoned drone music (which is essentially about resonant intervals built on polyrhythms), they create a wholly unique rhythmic universe— where the experience of time gets turned on it´s head.

There´s lots of space to both get lost in the music and dance in Middelalderskogen, so we´re very happy that Kalman & Hulbækmo will facilitate just that, on Friday 19th of June.
